The time has changed and now plastic is replaced by paper.  Now a days you see people carrying paper bags with handles and different colors, crafts etc. These bags are very popular nowadays because using these bags makes carrying stuff of all sorts easy for people. Even while shopping also it is now given a choice whether you want to go for the plastic or the paper bags. But the use of plastic product is slowly being prohibited by the government just for the protection of the environment.
